State of Play Review

State of Play is the next murder/mystery thriller to come to DVD. I'm going to say right now that this is a brilliant movie. Keep reading to find out why.

Well, first of all, the acting is amazing. Some of the best acting this year, and the villain is really creepy. This movie is just so amazingly acted and directed you won't even believe it.

The writing is the best part, though. The story is intricate and realistic, as well as suspenseful when it needs to be. The whole plot ends nicely and the story is really interesting. Although you really have to pay attention. It gets really confusing some times with too many characters, but the story is just incredible.

The movie has minimal action, but what's there is realistic but exciting as well. Just a warning, the murder scene is really violent. A lot of scenes are extremely intense, especially when he goes face to face with the killer and silently gets chased into a parking  garage. I about peed my pants. No joke.

This movie makes you think. Its a smart movie; its well thought-out, its amazingly acted (Ben Affleck steals the show), and its intense and exciting. Its really hard to think of anything bad about this film, the only thing being the lack of action scenes. But its not an action movie. If you understand that this is a political thriller and not Mission: Impossible or the Bourne Identity, then you will undoubtedly enjoy this a lot.
