Ratchet and Clank PS3 Review

Ratchet and Clank came the other day! Here's my review:

Graphics: The graphics are pretty good, but what's great are the cutscenes. It is literally hollywood quality, with animation similar to the movie Hoodwinked. It is really amazing. The in-game graphics are good too, but the cutscenes are just fantastic. 10/10

Story: If you've ever played any Ratchet and Clank games, then you'll know pretty much what it's about. Ratchet, a furry alien, and his robot, Clank, are on an adventure to save the galaxy. While that seems like it's unoriginal and uninspired, the story is actually quite engaging and you really care for Ratchet and his robot friend. Also, the jokes are pretty funny, so that helps a lot. 9/10

Gameplay: While fairly linear, the game is REALLY fun. There are tons of weapons to find, gadgets to use, and stuff to explode. I mean, that's why we play video games right? To see stuff explode? The only time where this game gets frustrating is platforming when the elements come into play. I've never been a fan of jumping onto platforms, and then missing, and starting over. So that brings R&C gameplay a little down, but most of the game is shooting stuff, so the gameplay is still really fun. Also, they include some interesting mini-game type things, where your falling from a spaceship into a crowded metropolis and you have to tilt the controller to steer out of traffic. Or you tilt the controller to fly through rings. It's things like this that keep the game from getting repetitive.  8.6/10

Sound: The voice acting is incredible, and the soundtrack is not half bad. Pretty much everything in this game is animated movie quality. 9/10

Multiplayer: The biggest problem with R&C is the lack of multiplayer. It's really strange, because PS2 Ratchet and Clank games had splitscreen battles and I think even co-op. But this one doesn't even have online play, which is pretty much required of PS3 games now (well, by me at least :P).

91.5/100 (an average)

Overall R&C is a great game, but the mysterious lack of multiplayer and frustrating platforming mechanics bring the score down a little.

Why don't they have multiplayer, just like Lair? Are these people thinking multiplayer is old? Well, it isn't! Sounds like a cool game.

Yeah, that's why I'm excited for Terminator. I can't wait to do co-op at your house!
