Games I'm brining to the reunion

Since MovieBuff asked, here they are:

Definitely inFamous
Little Big Planet (really fun game, search it on youtube)
Burnout Paradise
Lord of the Rings

Here are games coming out before the reunion that I might get/bring:

-I will definitely get: Ghostbusters: The Video Game (comes out 6/16)

-Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen game (might not get cuz the first game wasn't good, comes out 6/23)

-Harry Potter 6 (6/30) I didn't really like the other HP games but this has 2 player dueling, so that sounds cool

Games I will not bring:

Rock Band, cuz it's kinda hard to bring all the instruments
Marvel Alliance, cuz you've already seen it, and I might trade it in soon
Spider-Man Web of Shadows, cuz I traded it in cuz I beat the game (really short game)
Iron Man, cuz I might trade it in. If I don't trade it in, I might bring it, but I will probably trade it for Ghostbusters

Thats it! By the way, you are so lucky you guys got out on the 22nd. We get out on Wednesday. :(

Infamous PS3 Review

Okay, I know I gave Spider-Man Web of Shadows a 10.1/10. That was way more than it deserved. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but after playing inFamous, it is really incomparable. I now officially lower the Spider-Man WOS review to 9.3/10. Still an amazing game!

Let me start off by saying my #1 favorite video game has changed...to this. This takes elements from Spider-Man 2 and GTA (which I have never played cuz its rated M, but I know the basic idea of it) and combines it with one of the coolest super heroes ever. Seriously, Cole (dude on the over) is really cool/

In this game, you really feel powerful. You have to make choices, like save the city or destroy it. You can be evil, and you get red lightning attacks, or heroic and get blue lightning attacks. If your good, citizens will help you, but if your evil, they throw rocks at you.

The city (Empire City) looks amazing. You can climb practically anything, from building to street lights to, well anything you can think of! The villains are really creepy, and the whole game has a cool eerie feeling to it.

The creators of this PS3-exclusive, "Sucker Punch Studios", are the same small company that made one of my favorite PS2 classics, the Sly Cooper series. You can tell they took a lot of ideas from Sly, and it brings back memories from like 4 years ago. By the way, I hope they make Sly 4, that would be amazing! Sorry, off topic.

This game takes everything you know about video games and changes it. It is truly a great achievement, and I hope I see more of inFamous in the near future.

Lord of the Rings Conquest (PS3 Game review)

I was going to see Pixar's Up this weekend, but I didn't get a chance. I got the highly anticipated game "inFamous", so I'll write that review next. I got Lord of the Rings about a month ago. Here's the review:

Have you ever played star wars battlefront 1 or 2? If you have, you will instantly learn how to play this game easily. And you'll now how sweet this game is!

The game is made up of 2 story missions (one for evil, one for bad) that have about 10 levels each. Levels are about 15-20 minutes each, so it is a pretty decent amount of time. But the real fun is playing multiplayer.

There are two types of multiplayer, split-screen and online. While I usually play split-screen with my brother, online play is definitely the most fun, especially when you start beating everyone.

There are a small variety of characters: Mage, Scout, Warrior and Archer. Mages seem to be the most powerful, but there is fun to be had with all four. Also, occasionally you will be able to be a hero, like Gandalf, or a monster, like an ent or dragon.

This is really fun. I highly recommend it!

Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa Review

I HATED MADAGASCAR 1!!!!!!!

Okay, thats dramatic, but it was the first movie I left to go refill my ICEE. I had no interest in the jokes, plot, or animation. Madagascar 2 does redeem the series, but it is nothing that I will hopefully watch again.

This film does have it's bright points. For example the penguins are pretty funny. But overall, this is pretty cheap. I was expecting more from a Dreamworks film.

The animation is mediocre compared to PIXAR (can't wait to see "Up"), and the visuals are extremely impressive. There are not bad, but nothing to be remembered by.

Ben Stiller is usually pretty good, but you can tell he would rather do something else. The other voice acting isn't good either.

I really liked the music in this film (that one song that keeps playing, "The Traveling Song"). Movies always seem better with good music.

Okay, I probably dislike this movie because I hated the first, but really this is a mediocre unambitious sequel. I don't recommend this movie, or the tv series either. I am disappointed in Dreamworks right now. Hopefully Pixar's "Up" will crush this into the ground.

Valkyrie Review

I always like "smart" movies. Movies where you come out saying wow, that was cool AND I feel like I was just in social studies. Weird combination (I don't like Social Studies at all), but it seems to work. Valkyrie is one of those movies.

Let me get the bad stuff out of the way. First, it is really weird how Cruise is the only one without a German accent. It doesn't make a big difference, but it is kinda annoying. The movie is also at times a little hard to follow, but isn't too bad (well, my brother kept asking if Hitler was the bad guy, and then fell asleep).

Now the good:

I learned a lot about that time period, as well as Hitler and General Stoffenberg (Cruise). It kept my interest way more than any teacher could. Of course, there were cool explosions, near escapes and intense moments. I was sitting at the edge of my seat (Well, bean bag chair) the entire time! This movie is really suspenseful.

Overall I'm glad I saw this movie. It had important stuff (explosions, shooting, violence) and kinda important stuff (history about Hitler)**. Highly entertaining!

B+

**You can see my priorities!

Post 160!!!

This is the 160th post!

I'll write reviews for Madagascar 2 and Valkyrie later today (hopefully, maybe tomorrow).

Upcoming PS3 Game: Infamous

Remember the old PS2 days when we slinged webs, explored new york, and battled doc octopus? Yeah, I'm talking about spider-man 2 video game. It was one of the greatest games of it's time, but it's 2009 now. It is outdated, and it is not as much fun as it used to be. Sucker Punch studios solves our dilemma with the upcoming PS3-exclusive "inFamous".

I have played the demo, and let me tell you what I think:

This game takes the core elements from spidey 2, but improves it. You are Cole, a super hero stopping gangs with (16 unlockable) electricity super powers. You can climb, jump, glide, defy gravity, pretty much anything you want. But the best part is free roaming city to explore. Whats better than doing whatever you want? Nothing. This game is a game come true.

Gamespot.com says "Best Super Hero game ever made."

Ganetrailers.com says "One of the best PS3 titles to date."

ps3.ign.com says "9.2/10

Obviously everyone loves it. I am getting it next weekend.

Star Trek Review

The next Summer blockbuster movie has arrived, reviving an old series into a modern film. Star Trek is finally here.

I personally haven't ever seen any Star Trek movies, TV episodes, or anything else. Until now, I mean. It isn't hard to follow, because it's a prequel, and all the characters make sense.

Speaking of characters, I though Spock (pointy-eared guy) was going to be really cheesy, but he was a really deep and interesting character. There even is a part where there are two Spocks, but I won't give it away.

The movie looks fantastic. The effects are the best "space" (star wars, battlestar galactica, etc.) effects I have ever, EVER seen! Everything looks like real space footage.

Acting was great. The actors were all dedicated to there rolls, and (mainly Spock) were really believable. Not "Oscar-winning" good, but still perfect for the movie. Well, actually, the villain was not that great; he seemed like a villain from a spy kids movie. ;)

Now the story. Everything JJ Abrahms (I didn't spell that right, but who cares) writes is amazing (Lost, Cloverfield, etc.). So it's no wonder that this film has an excellent story. It keeps the audience into it the entire time. Really, this is one of JJ's best.

This film is epic. The fights are great, the effects are superb, the story's great, the acting is great, the movie is entertaining throughout, and it is JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!! I won't compare this to Wolverine because it's a completely different type of movie (apples to oranges), but I am giving it the same letter grade.

X-Men Origins Wolverine Review (may contain mild spoilers)

Of course I had high expectations. Who wouldn't? Maybe people who saw the rotten tomatoes rating. Or who just don't like X-Men. Whatever your expectations are/were, let me tell you that I was excited. Did it pay off?

The film starts out when Wolverine is like 10 or 12 or something. After a devastating scene, we find Wolverine and his brother Sabretooth on the run, eventually to join the army. The army scenes were epic, and the beginning of the movie was well done. Although the kid actor for Wolverine wasn't great, he isn't in the movie much at all. Of course, Hugh Jackman did spectacular throughout the movie, as he always does. No surprises here.

Wolverine then becomes part of a special government team of mutants, when he later finds out that William Stryker and the rest of his team (at least most of the team) or cold blooded killers. Wolverine doesn't want to be apart of it. He leaves the team-and his brother Sabretooth.

Wolverine tries to live a "quiet life", but when he finds out someone is killing everyone on the old team, he is approched by William Stryker.

Yah know what-I'm basically telling the entire movie to you! I'll juts say the the story only gets better. And better. AND BETTER.

One disappointment is the special effects. Actually, they were great-except for one scene. Wolverine is looking at his new claws. And his claws up close look aweful. Like a cartoon. Otherwise, the special effects were amazing, like the helicopter scene (I won't give it away).

This movie is not your average X-Men. No, it is something more. This is the best X-Men movie out of all of them.

This movie introduces some old mutants from the comics never before seen in a feature film, like Gambit and Deadpool. We also get to see Cyclops as a teenager, and of course, Xavier himself. Although there are plenty of mutants, this movie still seems to be about Wolverine, and unlike what the Chicago Tribune said, he is not overcrowded out of his movie.

The action sequences were fantastic. The story was well-written, and the movie just was amazing. Really, best movie of the year so far (although it's not even Summer yet!) even past Knowing. A

Marley and Me Review

Let me start this out by saying I am not a fan of dogs. I know this sounds cruel, but the only reason I wanted to see this is that I heard there was a sad ending.

The movie starts out when Owen Wilson and Jenifer Anston (I don't think I spelled either of those right!) get married. Then, they get a dog. Yes, the beginning of the movie is as flat and boring as it sounds. I almost left to go do something else, but then the movie started to pick up.

Marley gets into all kinds of trouble, which is humorous but gets REALLY old after the first ten minutes. There should be a federal law that says you can't use the same joke twice, or thirty times for Marley's sake.

The couple then has there first child. Managing a child and a dog does bring more laughs, but again, only for the first couple minutes.

They have more kids, and the jokes stay the same. There is one scary part (pretty violent) and many inappropriate parts. This movie should NOT be PG. There's your warning.

Although Marley get some laughs, there isn't enough to make this more than a one-time family flick. Even look at the poster at the top, it says the same "joke" twice! B-
